Ecotype Consulting is an approved provider of continuing education for architects through the American Institute of Architects AIA-CES program. We will be offering AIA-CES approved courses in green building design, green building construction, energy efficiency, commissioning, Title-24/BEES, and the LEED process. Courses are designed primarily for architects, developers, and contractors.
The first in our series of AIA-CES approved courses is Designing Energy Efficient Nonresidential Envelopes in Southern California. It is a quick one-hour course covering the basics of wall, roof, and fenestration assemblies. You'll learn about basic performance characteristics and how to specify them. We'll go over good rules-of-thumb for envelope assemblies in southern California. We will also discuss the 2013 Title-24/BEES requirements for certifying the design and construction of envelope assemblies. This covers compliance approaches, certificates of compliance, certificates of installation, and certificates of acceptance. It's a good chance to brush-up on the basics of energy efficient envelope design, and to learn about relevant code compliance issues. Participation earns you a one-hour HSW learning unit, and can also count towards LEED AP continuing education requirements.
This is just the first of many more courses to come. We are offering these courses free of charge to clients, professional organizations, and non-profits. We'll even consider developing custom courses, depending on your needs and on our expertise. Let us know what you'd like to learn about!
